At three o'clock on the night before Tuesday, someone rang the alarm about bangs that were suspected to be gunfire in the Berga district in Kalmar.

Police rushed out and investigated the area during the night, but no traces of gunfire were found.

- There is nothing that confirms gunfire, no injuries, no cartridges or bullet holes, says Patric Fors, press spokesperson for the police in the south to SVT Småland.

"People are on their toes"

What could have caused the reported bangs is unclear.

A military exercise is currently underway in the area around Kalmar, but they have not reported that they would shoot during the night, according to Patric Fors.

Another theory is that it could be firecrackers.

- It often happens when there has been a shooting that people call in about new bangs.

People are on their toes right now.

In addition, the excitement is used by people with firecrackers who think it is fun to see the blue lights, we have seen this in connection with shootings in Malmö, says Patric Fors.

In recent months, there have been several sharp shootings in Kalmar.

Three people have been shot dead, the most recent during the night until Monday.
