China News Service, Beijing, May 23 (Xie Yanbing Li Jingze) Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin hosted a regular press conference on May 23.

A reporter asked: According to reports, the European Union recently released its 2021 Hong Kong-related and Macau-related reports, falsely claiming that Hong Kong's basic freedoms continued to deteriorate, the National Security Law further undermined the "one country, two systems" principle, and that the political rights and fundamental freedoms of the people of Macau continued to deteriorate.

What is the comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this?

Wang Wenbin: Spokespersons of the Chinese Mission to the EU and the Offices of the Commissioners of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong and Macau have respectively stated their solemn positions on this.

The two EU reports do not distinguish right from wrong, confuse right and wrong, blatantly violate international law and basic norms governing international relations, and grossly interfere in China's internal affairs. We express our strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this.

I want to stress that Hong Kong and Macau affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and no outside interference is allowed.

We urge the European side to respect basic facts, view the economic and social development of Hong Kong and Macau and the great achievements of the "one country, two systems" policy in an objective and fair manner, abandon arrogance and prejudice, get rid of the old problem of "teacher", and abide by international law and international relations with practical actions Basic norms, immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong and Macau affairs and China's internal affairs in any form, and avoid affecting the development of China-EU relations.
