Trump and his ex-Vice-President vie to succeed Biden in the 2024 presidential election

Former US Vice President Mike Pence indicated that he is ready to run in the 2024 presidential election against former President Donald Trump during an interview with the New York Times published Monday.

The nomination represented a crucial shift in the relationship between Pence and Trump, although the growing rift between them was evident earlier, with Pence questioning Trump's claims that he could have turned the outcome in the 2020 election.

In March, Trump admitted that the two had not spoken for a "long time".

In contrast, Trump's spokesman, Taylor Budwich, told The Times that Pence was "desperate to search for his non-existent importance".

"The truth is that President Trump has nothing to prevent him from saving America in 2022 and beyond," he added.
