The highlight of the German Chancellor's working visit was an early Monday morning visit to the training center for Nigerien special forces built and equipped by the German army in Tillia, in the Tahoua region.

For several months, the German contingent, through the Gazelle mission, has been training and training Nigerien soldiers from the Azawak.

This training mission will end next December, but at the express request of Niger, the German Parliament has agreed to extend it in the context of the fight against terrorism.
