China News Service, May 23 (Xinhua) According to a comprehensive report on the 22nd local time, British health officials said that a community infection cluster of monkeypox virus has appeared in the United Kingdom, and many cases are not related to travelers to West Africa.

In addition, authorities are advising close contacts of monkeypox cases to self-quarantine for 21 days.

According to Agence France-Presse, as of the 20th, 20 cases of monkeypox have been reported in the UK.

John Hopkins, chief medical adviser to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), said the risk to the general population was still extremely low, and for most adults the symptoms of monkeypox would be "relatively mild".

The report also said that monkeypox can be spread through contact with skin lesions and droplets of contaminated people and shared items such as bedding and towels, and symptoms include fever, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, fatigue, and hands and face. A chickenpox-like rash appears.

These symptoms usually go away after two to four weeks.

According to Sky News, UKHSA advises that people with "unprotected direct contact or exposure to high-risk environments" with monkeypox should self-isolate for 21 days and avoid contact with immunosuppressed people, pregnant women and children under 12.

In addition, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), 92 confirmed cases and 28 suspected cases have been reported in 12 countries around the world where monkeypox virus is not endemic since the 13th.

Available information suggests that human-to-human transmission is occurring among people who have had close physical contact with symptomatic cases.
