• Catalonia Three "sabotage" acts affect the AVE that connects with Girona and France

The high-speed trains that circulate between Barcelona-Girona and the Figueres Vilafant station, close to the French border, may suffer between 30 and 45 minutes of delay this Monday morning due to

acts of vandalism

perpetrated early Sunday morning, reports Renfe.

The company

will redirect some affected passengers to the regional trains of the R11 line

and has assured that it is reporting the alteration through all communication channels, according to a statement on Monday.

The acts of vandalism were perpetrated early Sunday morning at the facilities located on the section between Vilobí and Figueres (Girona) and caused

damage to the signaling system.

The

Mossos d'Esquadra have opened an investigation

into these acts of vandalism, according to regional police sources, in addition to those recorded on Saturday night when three acts of vandalism, in two sections of the high-speed line that runs through the province of Girona, caused delays of one hour in the AVE that connect with the capital of Girona and France, as reported this Sunday by Efe from sources from the infrastructure manager ADIF and Renfe.

Adif sources reported that the "sabotage" acts were recorded

in a space of twenty minutes at three different points on the

AVE line, and consisted of the burning of gutters of the wiring network of the train signaling system, which was left with "significant damage".

Adif worked this Sunday to repair the facilities on the affected section of the Madrid-Barcelona High-Speed Line this Saturday at night so as not to affect traffic on the other track.

Initial forecasts suggest that the

total replacement of this road will be completed in about four days.

The Madrid-Barcelona High-Speed line resumed on Saturday after the restoration of traffic in Alhama de Aragón, interrupted by a breakdown, according to Adif on social networks.
