A student came very close to drowning in the elevator of her building in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise) on Friday morning.
The 22-year-old was going down to the building's underground car park to go to work when the cabin jammed.
Water then began to infiltrate, quickly reaching an alarming level.
A pipe had indeed broken and caused a water leak in the basement of the building, reports
La Gazette Val-d'Oise
.
Unable to alert
The student soon found herself in water up to her waist.
In addition to the immobilization of the elevator, the water had caused a cut in the alarm system of the device.
Although the network is usually impossible to pick up in this area of the building, the young woman was able to call her brothers with her mobile phone.
The latter alerted the firefighters, who immediately intervened and managed to rescue the victim.
The latter, in a state of relative emergency, was transported to the hospital.
One of his brothers described the accident as "unacceptable".
