Yemen .. Al-Alimi confirms commitment to extending the armistice and thanks Saudi Arabia and the UAE

Head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi affirmed the commitment of the council and the Yemeni government to continue supporting the international efforts to extend the armistice, and the need to implement its provisions in full, foremost of which is the opening of the crossings of Taiz and other cities.

In a speech he delivered yesterday evening on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Yemen, he also affirmed adherence to the Saudi initiative and considering it a just basis for a comprehensive peace process in Yemen, calling on the international community to redouble pressure to push the Houthis towards completing the prisoner exchange procedures.

Al-Alimi saluted the broad alignment of the national forces on the path of restoring the state and achieving peace and stability in Yemen, expressing many thanks and gratitude to the loyal brothers in the countries of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, for all that they have provided and are still for their brothers in To whom.

He referred to the implications of the exceptional national consensus within the framework of the Presidential Leadership Council, which reflects the determination of all forces to restore the state and move to a more participatory space in which Yemenis determine their future on the basis of peaceful coexistence.



Al-Alimi praised the precious sacrifices of the members of the armed and security forces, stressing that he is moving forward in efforts to unify the military and security institution.

The Chairman of the Yemeni Leadership Council also stressed the priority of the economic issue in the plans and directions of the Council and the government of political competencies, including working to activate exports, develop revenues, and regularly pay the salaries of public service employees, the armed forces, security and pensions, and improve services in all governorates, especially Aden.

He pointed out that the council will work primarily to combat corruption through the development of the control and accountability body, and the selection of a new supreme national anti-corruption body to succeed the existing one.

On the other hand, protests demanding the opening of crossings and roads continued in Taiz and other Yemeni cities for the sixth consecutive day, as hundreds of civilians staged a sit-down at the western crossing to Taiz.

This stand comes as part of daily protest activities that have been going on for six days to denounce the ongoing Houthi siege on the city and the closure of roads despite the UN truce, which is about to expire.

The protesters called on the UN envoy, Hans Grundberg, to put more pressure on the Houthi militia, to implement the terms of the armistice regarding opening crossings and roads and lifting the siege on Taiz, which has exacerbated the suffering of the population.

The main road map covered in Taiz, including the eastern port extending from (Al-Hawban - Round the Palace), constitutes a main road connecting the city of Taiz towards the governorates of Ibb and Dhamar, reaching the capital, Sanaa, and the temporary capital, Aden, the main artery of the city of Taiz.

As for the northern port that extends from the Asafra area to the Sixtieth Street, it reaches from the city towards the rural areas north of Taiz Governorate, such as Khalaf Sharaab and other densely populated areas.

As for the northeastern exit, it connects Al-Arbaeen Street, which connects from the "Al-Rawda" area in the center of the city, towards the wholesale market, as well as from the "Kilaba" area to Sofitel.

As for the western entrance, it extends from the “ghee and soap factory” area, a main road that connects the city of Taiz towards Mocha and then the coastal governorate of Hodeidah on the Red Sea. It also branches off from the area of ​​(the factory) secondary roads linking the city to multiple directorates in the western countryside of the governorate.

Regarding the violations, the Yemeni army's media center announced that 116 violations of the armistice had been recorded during the past two days in five governorates.

For his part, the Yemeni army spokesman, Brigadier General Abdo Majali, announced that the Houthi militias have committed 4,276 violations since the beginning of the international truce, in 7 Yemeni governorates, which varied between creating sites and barricades, digging trenches and targeting army positions with artillery, medium weapons and various calibers, and drones, and the deployment of snipers. As well as sending reinforcements and weapons to the fronts.

Regarding freedoms, the Media Freedoms Observatory in Yemen documented 6 violations of media freedoms in the country last April.

 In Sanaa, the Houthi militia dismissed the leader, Abdul Karim Al-Ghamari, nicknamed "Abu Hashem", from his position in the Chief of Staff, and assigned the leader Fouad Al-Emad to take the position in his place, in the context of the differences that the group is witnessing in its first ranks.

In addition, parliamentarian Najib al-Warqi suspended his membership of the House of Representatives, which is under the control of the Houthis in Sana’a, in protest against the Houthis’ exercise of the right of members of Parliament under their control, and prevented them from traveling.
