China News Service, May 22 (Xinhua) According to a comprehensive report from the Japan Meteorological Agency, at 12:24 local time on May 22, an earthquake occurred off the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture, estimated to be 5.8 on the Richter scale, with a focal depth of 30 kilometers.

  The Ibaraki Prefecture Disaster Prevention and Crisis Management Department stated that there have been no abnormal reports of atomic energy-related facilities including the Tokai No. 2 Nuclear Power Plant.

  The earthquake was also felt in Fukushima Prefecture.

Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Company said there was no abnormal situation at the first and second nuclear power plants in Fukushima Prefecture.
