Defense for Children International said that the Israeli occupation soldiers used a Palestinian girl as a human shield during their storming of Jenin camp.

In a statement, the movement clarified that the occupation soldiers forced the 16-year-old girl, Ahed Mareb, from the Al-Hadaf neighborhood in Jenin, to stand in front of their military vehicle for about two hours, amid a heavy exchange of live bullets between the soldiers and Palestinian resistance fighters.

The movement reports that the girl was crying all the time out of fear, and that the occupation soldiers took shelter inside their vehicle, while they asked her to stay in front of the vehicle and did not even allow her to lower her head to avoid the resistance’s bullets.

The girl added that one of the soldiers was telling her through a small window in the military vehicle, "You stay where you are and you don't move, you are a terrorist, and your shadow until you bid farewell to your brother Mahmoud," who was wanted by them.

After two hours of confrontations and the arrest of her brother Mahmoud, Ahed Merheb says that the occupation forces withdrew from the neighborhood, while she was taken to a hospital in Jenin and treated for severe psychological pressure and severe shortage of oxygen.

Since 2000, the movement has documented at least 26 cases of using Palestinian children as human shields by the occupation army (social networking sites)

Defense for Children International says that since 2000 it has documented at least 26 cases of Palestinian children being used as human shields by the Israeli occupation army.

The movement notes that international law is explicit and absolutely prohibits the use of civilians as human shields, or forcing them to provide direct assistance to military operations, or using them to protect armed forces, armed groups or targets from attacks, and this practice is also prohibited under Israeli law based on a ruling issued in 2005 For the Israeli Supreme Court.

Last month, Defense for Children International stated on its Facebook page that the Israeli occupation forces had killed 6 children so far this year, 3 of them in Jenin.
