“We are deeply outraged by the latest acts of vandalism against monuments to Soviet soldiers in Slovakia in the city of Piestany on May 13 and in the city of Poprad on May 16,” the statement says.

Zakharova added that Moscow regards these actions as illegal and immoral, insulting the memory of not only Soviet soldiers, but also Slovak partisans - participants in the anti-fascist resistance, as well as everyone who fought against Nazism.

“We proceed from the fact that the Slovak authorities will conduct a thorough investigation and those responsible will be punished,” the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.

Earlier it became known that an act of vandalism was committed at the cemetery of Soviet soldiers in the village of Filiciyanavas in southern Lithuania: unknown people removed and broke a marble memorial plaque from a concrete base.
