Last summer and last winter, the delivery in Lycksele was closed for a few weeks because they did not get the staff together.

This summer, all three maternity wards in Västerbotten will be open.

In Lycksele, however, you will have to cut back on operations from Friday 29 July and two and a half weeks onwards.

- We will not have closed.

There will be staff in Lycksele in the meantime, but we will not receive births during the period, says Olov Grankvist, operations manager center for obstetrics and gynecology in Region Västerbotten.

During the period, all births are instead referred to the coast.

Can you call it open, when you do not offer maternity care?

- You can do that.

There is another option and that is to have it completely shut down and not have any staff there.

It is not completely closed.

This is a big fall forward, says Olov Grankvist.

Midwifery Association positive

Erika Häggblad is chairman of the Midwifery Association in Västerbotten and she says that she is quite happy with the outcome.

- I hope this will be the best, she says.

Last summer and last winter, the delivery in Lycksele was closed for a few weeks.

This summer, the birth in Lycksele will be open, but will reduce the activities for some weeks and then only a midwife will work.
