The Governor-General of Australia looks forward to strengthening relations with the UAE under the leadership of Mohammed bin Zayed

David Hurley, Governor-General of Australia, affirmed his country's desire to strengthen cooperation relations with the UAE under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State.

He said that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will enhance the UAE's leadership in the field of technology in the region and globally by moving from dependence on fossil fuels to adopting an integrated set of different technologies in addition to building a sustainable and long-term future for the UAE that does not depend on fuel fossil.

Hurley added in an exclusive interview with the Emirates News Agency "WAM" on the sidelines of his visit to the country to congratulate His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his election as President of the State and to offer condolences on the death of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, "may God have mercy on him"... that the achievements of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will continue and continue, pointing out that he agrees with His Highness in various situations, stressing that the Abrahamic Treaty demonstrated the wisdom and intelligence of His Highness and how the UAE will change the world.

The Governor-General of Australia described Sheikh Khalifa, "may God have mercy on him", as a man who possessed a great vision, and this was evident through the methodology with which he led the development of the UAE during his tenure of leadership.

He explained that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, "may God rest his soul," laid the foundation stone for the UAE, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan followed his path, strengthening the UAE's openness to the world, and giving it an international standing.

Hurley said that the two friendly countries can cooperate in advanced technologies, especially space technology and renewable energy sources, pointing out that the development of waste-to-energy projects is a promising area for cooperation between the two countries, and such projects will be opened in Australia within the framework of a partnership between companies from both countries. .

The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), one of the world's leading renewable energy companies, and Tribe Infrastructure, an infrastructure development and advisory firm, have announced a joint venture to develop and support the delivery and management of waste energy projects across Australia.

Hurley explained that the UAE and Australia have started talks to sign a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which is a tool for developing long-term trade relations between the two sides.

He stressed that he sees something new in the Emirates every time he visits it.

He appreciated the efforts to empower women in the UAE, praising the number of women ministers and government officials and their efficiency at work.

Australian-Emirati relations have developed in many areas as Australia has had a diplomatic presence in the UAE since 2004. Since then, diplomatic relations have greatly strengthened.

On the economic front, the number of Australian companies operating in the UAE increased from 50 companies in 2004 to more than 300 companies in 2022, whose fields diversified to include a wide range of fields, including modern technologies.

The University of Wollongong also opened as the first Australian university in Dubai and other universities have followed suit.

In the defense sector, the relationship has grown significantly, and the number of Australians residing in the UAE has increased from 4,000 in 2004 to about 15,000 Australians now.
