China News Service, May 20. According to the WeChat official account of the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands, in recent years, telecom fraud cases against overseas Chinese citizens in many countries, including the Netherlands, have also occurred frequently.

Such scams are constantly being renovated, with peaks and troughs appearing alternately, almost never stopping, causing mental and property damage to some Chinese citizens.

The Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands has issued consular reminders on fraud prevention and anti-fraud for many times.

Judging from the information obtained by the embassy, the awareness of Chinese citizens in the Netherlands on prevention has been significantly improved. Most of the parties involved can quickly detect the fraudsters' attempts, but some parties have insufficient awareness of prevention.

In order to continue to create a strong anti-fraud atmosphere and effectively improve the anti-fraud awareness and ability of Chinese citizens in the Netherlands, the embassy once again solemnly reminds that it is everyone's responsibility to combat fraud.

  1. Strengthen the awareness of prevention and beware of falling into scams.

If you receive an unfamiliar phone call to inform you that "the package has been found with prohibited items", "there are documents or the package has not been picked up", "the visa or residence is invalid", "personal information is involved in the case", "traffic accident", "child kidnapped", "relatives" Accidental death” and other information, you must be vigilant, and you must verify the situation through other channels before handling it.

  2. Prevent the "regeneration" of deception and the "hot spots" of fraudsters.

Fraudsters impersonate a wide range of targets and deceive means, such as "DHL Express Company", "Dutch Police Station", "Dutch Immigration Service", "Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands", "Dutch Embassy in China", "A domestic public security bureau" ”, “CDC of a province or city”, etc., may inform the parties that “there is an important express delivery that no one has signed”, “there is a problem with the visa”, “the passport has been stolen”, “involved in a major international financial fraud case”, “ Leakage of domestic medical information,” “failure to report health conditions to the embassy in a timely manner,” “causing the spread of the epidemic,” etc.

However, no matter how many tricks the scammers have, they will eventually make money.

Please do not trust any phone calls or emails involving personal financial information, requests for transfer or remittance, etc., and keep the bottom line of not transferring money, not paying money, and not disclosing personal information.

  3. Prevent fraudsters from using technical means to camouflage caller numbers.

Fraudsters are fully capable of using Internet technology to disguise their phone numbers as the numbers of Chinese embassies and consulates abroad or domestic administrative, judicial and other departments. Don't be fooled by appearances.

Fourth, especially to guard against fraudulent calls posing as embassies.

The Chinese embassy in the Netherlands will not notify Chinese compatriots by phone that there is a domestic case that needs to be handled, nor will it transfer the party to the domestic public security department or ask the party to call back any phone number for further contact.

Even if the embassy calls the parties to notify the above-mentioned emergencies in an emergency, it will not talk about bank accounts, transfers and other matters.

  5. If you receive a suspected fraudulent call, it is recommended to ignore it or block it.

If you are unfortunate enough to be deceived, please report to the Dutch police and domestic public security organs immediately.

Netherlands police number: 0900-8844 or +31343578844 (calls from outside the Netherlands), police website: www.politie.nl.

China's police number: 110. If you cannot report the case directly to the domestic public security organ, you can report the case through your domestic relatives, dial 110 and ask to be transferred to the Anti-Telecom Network Fraud Center where the case was reported.

  6. It is recommended to download the National Anti-Fraud Center APP.

The APP is organized and developed by the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security. It is a software that can effectively prevent fraud and quickly report fraudulent content.

The software contains a wealth of anti-fraud knowledge. Through learning, you can effectively avoid various online frauds, improve users' anti-fraud capabilities, and report various fraud information to the platform at any time to reduce unnecessary property losses.
