Prime Minister Kishida met with IAEA, the Secretary-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Grossi, and agreed to cooperate closely with the security of Ukraine's nuclear facilities and North Korea's nuclear and missile activities.

In this, Prime Minister Kishida said, "I highly appreciate the IAEA's efforts to ensure the safety of Ukraine's nuclear facilities," while Secretary-General Grossi said, "The battle is taking place in places where there are many facilities." Therefore, ensuring safety is extremely important, "he said, and agreed to work closely together to ensure the safety of nuclear facilities.



Secretary-General Grossi also expressed his intention to visit the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, which is occupied by Russia, in the near future.

On the other hand, opinions were also exchanged on the policy of discharging the treated water of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station to the sea, and Prime Minister Kishida said, "Scientific and objective reviews by IAEA for ocean release are domestic and foreign. This is a very important initiative to gain understanding, "said Mr. Grossi, who said he would continue to cooperate.



Furthermore, they agreed on a policy of cooperating with Japan and the IAEA to respond to the increasing nuclear and missile activities of North Korea.
