“My dream was to do it one day in Teahupoo”

“This video is a nod to my childhood, I loved playing in the waves.

My dream was to do it one day in Teahupoo”, explained Arnaud Jerald, holder of four world records in apnea, including two during the year 2021.

If he chose this spot off Tahiti, it is because it is a mythical place in the world of surfing.

It is also on this spot that the surfing events of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place.

An essential safety device

But this practice is not without danger, you can see the freediver brushing against the reefs during the water movements generated by the power of the wave.

Faced with the risk that this performance represented, Arnaud Jerald had chosen to surround himself well: a lifeguard accompanied him on a jet-ski while two divers were present to ensure his safety in the water.
