Thursday evening, shortly after 6 p.m., a heavy goods vehicle carrying pallets overturned spectacularly in the Luy de France, a tributary of the Adour, in the town of Astis, north of Pau.
The road group was traveling on the RD834.
"Following a loss of control, the heavyweight hit the parapet of the small bridge overlooking the Luy de France and came to a standstill in the river below", tell the gendarmes of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques on their Facebook page.
The truck ended up on its roof, wheels in the air, and partly covered in water, but no injuries were reported in this accident.
Tank pumping operations, to prevent pollution linked to the fuel leak, were carried out by the firefighters.
Delicate truck lifting operations will be organized this Friday, disrupting traffic on the departmental road during the day.
