The first fans, who presumably simply continued the night's celebrations, had already set up on the Römerberg in the morning.

The sound check on the pitch is already underway.

But Frankfurt still has a few hours of calm before the big storm: The Eintracht team is not expected back at the airport from Seville until around 5:30 p.m. after winning the Europa League.

Although the official plan is for the team to present itself to the fans from 7 p.m. on the balcony of the Römer town hall, the timing is considered very unrealistic in view of the expected rush of fans along the route of the parade, on which the team will probably meet in an open Truck will move to the city center via Sachsenhausen and the Untermain Bridge.

Eintracht, which is responsible for the parade, announced the route via social media.

The arrival at the Römer, where the team is received in the Kaisersaal and then has to sign the city's Golden Book, is likely to be much later than expected, and the celebration will be delayed into the evening.

Eight large screens in various places

In the Emperor's Hall, one or two politicians will not refrain from praising Eintracht for their heroic deed before the team then step onto the balcony and present the trophy.

"We will give Eintracht a great welcome on the Römerberg after they return," Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) announced that night.

The Römerberg itself is cordoned off as soon as it is full of people.

Followers who arrive later can take part in the events on large screens on Paulsplatz, Rathenauplatz or Rossmarkt as well as four screens on the northern bank of the Main.

According to Tourismus+Congress Frankfurt GmbH (TCF), which is responsible for the organization and security concept of the reception outside the parade route and Kaisersaal, at least 50,000 people should have the best view of these screens.

For comparison: At the reception after the DFB Cup victory in 2018, an estimated 35,000 people were present around the Römerberg to celebrate the team.

Possible and expected further crowds of people, including most of the 50,000 fans who were in Seville and celebrated, have already returned, so it is hoped, should be distributed along the route of the parade.

Mayor Feldmann therefore also appealed to the fans.

"So that nothing goes wrong: I therefore ask everyone to follow the instructions of the security and law enforcement officers," said Feldmann.

“An event like this is teamwork like winning in football.

That only works if everyone pulls together.”

The city is once again asking all visitors – including those who are coming from far away – to use local public transport in any case.

Thunderstorms should largely spare Frankfurt

There will be practically no parking facilities in downtown Frankfurt.

For example, the parking garages are closed.

Trains and buses have announced that they will expand their offerings.

A little uncertainty fueled the weather forecast for Hesse in the morning: Thunderstorms and storms are expected.

The German weather service, which has been warning of severe thunderstorms and showers, heavy rain and gusts of wind for this Thursday and Friday since Wednesday, gave a certain all-clear for Frankfurt when asked - Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main area are outside the risk area.

This primarily includes North Rhine-Westphalia, parts of Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and western Lower Saxony.

According to the meteorologists, the probability of severe weather on the Main is low.

According to forecasts, heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible from late afternoon and especially in the early evening hours on Thursday, but the potential for severe weather conditions with heavy rain, storms and hail is not very great, they say.

In addition, the risk is already lower in the later evening hours in the warning areas.

So if you have a little patience and only head into the city center in the evening after the rain, you could have an advantage: you should be there in time before the team, "But of course we have to monitor the weather and are in contact with the German Weather Service", said a spokeswoman for the TCF on request.
