The millions come from the annual distribution of money from the urban environment agreements, where municipalities and regions can apply for help to finance projects that will strengthen bicycle and public transport.

Ready 2024

The new trail, which is expected to be completely completed in 2024, will consist of a road with two lanes and also a pedestrian and bicycle path.

The idea is to relieve other roads in the northern part of the city.

The money from the Swedish Transport Administration will only be used for the new pedestrian and bicycle lane.

- It is both the monetary and the principled that means a lot with these supports we receive, says Muharrem Demirok (C), chairman of the public works committee.

Will apply again

This is neither the first nor the last time Linköping municipality will apply for money through an urban environment agreement.

- My ambition is that we will continue to maintain a very high level of applications and hopefully receive the same dividend, says Muharrem Demirok (C).

The total cost of the pedestrian and bicycle path is expected to be around SEK 45 million.
