After the parade is before the "Biker Day": Next Sunday, motorcyclists from ten organizations will gather on the Feldberg.

This time it is not a demonstration, but an "event for the whole family", advertises the "Hochtaunus Action Alliance for All".

However, the name, the history of its founding and the previous action of the bikers suggest that there is more to it than presenting the "comprehensive work of the organizations involved" at the summit.

Formed at the beginning of the year as a reaction to the route closures planned for motorbikes on the Feldberg from April to October, the group mobilized more than 800 motorbike enthusiasts last Saturday to go pounding sand in the protest parade.

According to the police, there were so many – the Federal Association of Motorcyclists even gave the number of demonstrators as 2,000.

The district wants to avoid noise, reduce accidents and enable peaceful coexistence on the Großer Feldberg.

Not only motorcyclists head for it at weekends, but also cyclists, nature lovers and car drivers.

It is also important to appease people from Oberursel, Kronberger, Königstein, Glashütte and Schmitten who are annoyed by the traffic.

And to relieve the extremely demanding emergency services in the area.

The coalition of CDU, SPD and Free Voters in the Hochtaunus district presents the traffic test as the result of an earlier study: Based on the measurement results for noise and traffic volume from 2019, tests are being carried out to determine whether the situation can be improved with "traffic breaks" for motorcyclists - in the sense of a "far-reaching concept for the entire Feldberg region".

The bikers perceive this as "testing until the results are right" and instead propose speed limits for all and more police stops of motorcycles as well as cars.

But there's no denying that motorcycles are louder than pedestrians and cars - even if the drivers comply with the regulations.

So it's not about "kinship liability" for law-abiding drivers who would have to pay for a few hooligans.

It is also true that the Feldberg can also be reached by motorbikes at any time this year - just not on all routes on the seven weekends with noise breaks.

So "Hochtaunus for everyone" already applies - and hopefully will continue to do so.

This is not possible without compromises and renunciations.

Traffic-plagued residents and hikers have known this for a long time.

Perhaps they should soon organize a protest march to the summit.

Really quiet.
