On Wednesday afternoon, the message came: Strängnäs diocese's bishop Johan Dalman, goes on to the second round of elections when a new archbishop will be appointed after Antje Jackelén who has held the title since 2014.

Johan Dalman was elected bishop of Strängnäs diocese in 2015.

There were five candidates for the first round of the archbishop, but since no one received more than 50 percent of the votes, it will be a second round of elections.

In that round, the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round participate.

Bishop Martin Modéus in Linköping diocese received 37.8 percent of the vote while Johan Dalman received 28.7 percent.

The second round of elections will be held on 8 June.
