Drugs, stolen goods, dangerous objects and several drunk drivers.

This is the result of the Swedish Customs' special control effort over two weeks along the land border between Sweden and Finland.

Three people have also been arrested and one is in custody.

Advanced help

- We have revealed a number of crimes.

We have found a large variety of different types of drugs.

We have stopped several drunk drivers and we have prevented stolen goods from being taken out of the country, says Dariusz Stanczak.

To help them, they have had several search dogs and advanced scanners to be able to quickly find drugs, weapons and other illegal goods in vehicles and with controlled persons.

Stop crime at the border

The Swedish Customs focuses on the border with Finland.

- Haparanda is special because the whole city is integrated with Tornio on the Finnish side.

The whole community is a border area and it is a challenge for us to control the flows across the border, says Mattias Fridegård who is unit manager for the Swedish Customs' control department North.
