One of the main streets was opened in Paterson, New Jersey, in the name of "Palestine Street" in honor of the contributions of Americans of Palestinian origin, according to what was approved by the city council.

In a great celebration, the sign bearing the name of the street was revealed, during which the attendees raised pictures of our colleague Shireen Abu Aqleh, who was assassinated by the Israeli occupation forces, calling for justice and an investigation into the crime.

The celebration was attended by members of the city council and its mayor, Andre Sayegh.

Patterson is nicknamed "Little Ramallah" because it has a large Palestinian-American community.

Members of the Arab and Palestinian communities, along with residents of the American city of Paterson, New Jersey, celebrated the naming of part of one of the city's main streets as "Palestine Road", the day before yesterday, Sunday, the 74th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba.

The southern Patterson neighborhood witnessed joyous festive displays, interspersed with Palestinian songs and pro-Palestine chants, and the raising of Palestinian flags by the crowd while the curtain was raised on a sign bearing the name "Palestine Road";

It is the new name for the main street in the neighborhood.

"Many Palestinians see Paterson as their home, and this is the day we celebrate that," said city councilor Alaa Abdel Aziz.

In honor of the Palestinian community

It is noteworthy that the Paterson City Council had voted by a majority in favor of the decision to rename the main street in the southern neighborhood of the city as “Palestine Road” on March 30, in honor of the large Palestinian community in the city and its contributions to civil services.

The unveiling of the new name sign coincided with the 74th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, and it is noteworthy that Patterson is the third largest city in the state of New Jersey, and is the first city in the state to commit to commemorating the Palestinian Nakba in May every year since 2013 through demonstrations outside the city council The Palestinian flag is raised.
