South Korea tested its own heavy torpedo

The torpedo was launched from a Jang Bogo-3 class submarine, the purpose of the test was to test the operation of the weapon before mass production.

“These tests are very important because they confirmed the quality of the South Korean-designed heavy guided torpedo,” said Jang Bong-gi, head of the Center for Guided Weapons Systems, quoted by the Yonhap news agency.

In September 2021, Seoul said that the development of ballistic missiles on submarines could help deter provocations from the DPRK.
