From our correspondent in Beijing,

The white heads do not have their tongues in their pockets, and in China, it is often the grandfathers of the party who dare to say aloud what many no longer dare to think quietly.

At an advanced age, one has less to lose.

This is the case for veterans of the people's army,

retired party school teachers

, but also former executives and more rarely for former leaders who take up the pen to challenge policies

or change of line which they dislike

.

Among the new regulations published by the General Office of the Central Committee, a statement aims to "strengthen party building among retired cadres of the new era" notes the

South China Morning Post

.

The “new era” is that of the Chinese president who is aiming for a third term at the 20th Congress.

Retirees are invited to comply with the new directives, with a list of prohibitions commensurate with the latest tremors within the apparatus: "

not to openly discuss the general policy of the central committee, not to pronounce negative opinions , not to participate in the activities of illegal organizations and not to use their former authority or position of influence to seek advantages for themselves or for others

 ”.

The warning is a response to some party members committing disciplinary offenses upon retirement, a spokesperson for the central organization department told Xinhua.

Only loyalty should prevail

.

For safety, CCP retirees wishing to live overseas are required to quit.

A way to avoid internal criticism pronounced outside the borders.

The statement states that “

violations of disciplinary rules must be treated seriously

 ”.
