A boy in his teens was stabbed after a brawl late one Monday evening in March at Bäckby in Västerås and had to be taken to hospital where he had to undergo emergency surgery.
A 15-year-old boy is now being convicted of the crime.
The boy was charged with attempted murder, but the district court ruled that there was insufficient evidence that he intentionally tried to kill the boy of the same age.
He is sentenced instead of aggravated assault to closed youth care for six months.
The boy must also pay damages of SEK 50,000 to the victim.
