Martin Modéus was ordained a bishop in 2011. The current archbishop is Antje Jackelén, who was installed in 2014 and will end his service on 30 October.

The Archbishop is the main representative of the Church of Sweden.

The first round of elections in the archbishop's election will take place on 18 May.

If any of the candidates there get more than 50 percent of the vote, the election is decided.

Otherwise, there will be a second round of elections on June 8 between the two who received the most votes.
