A 17-year-old boy died this Sunday afternoon at the Grosbois-en-Montagne dam (Côte-d'Or).

The young man living in Dijon (Côte-d'Or) was killed by diving into the water of the reservoir.

Rescuers were quickly alerted.

Dispatched to the scene, they could not resuscitate him, reports France 3 Bourgogne Franche-Comté.

A long-awaited investigation

The victim's comrades and witnesses to the tragedy were taken care of by a psychological unit.

Waterways of France (VNF), responsible for the dam, explained to be "attentive to the results of the investigation".

The organization also indicated that it would then consider “additional security measures consistent with the geography of the site”.

VNF also wanted to remind you that swimming and jumping are prohibited outside the equipped beach.

The mayor, for his part, clarified that the municipality did not have “the legal competence necessary to secure the reservoir”.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
