A 62-year-old woman was found dead at the foot of the cliffs of Etretat (Seine-Maritime), last Thursday.

According to the first elements of the investigation, it would be an accident related to the taking of a photograph.

The sexagenarian

originally from Sarthe, according to

Ouest-France

– was accompanied by her husband and two other couples.

They were hiking when she wanted to take a snapshot.

She allegedly "stumbled and fell" while holding out her phone, a judicial source

told

Actu.fr.

A fall of about 80 meters.

According to the maritime prefecture, significant resources have been committed: the all-weather Cap Fagnet canoe of the national sea rescue company (SNSM) of Fécamp, the semi-rigid, L'Yportaise, of the SNSM of Yport and the French Navy Dauphin helicopter based in Le Touquet (Pas-de-Calais).

Picked up by a lifeboat, she could not be revived.

The accident of a 24-year-old woman in January, already

A similar accident had already occurred in early January.

A 24-year-old young woman from Finistère died following an accidental fall, still from the top of these same cliffs.

And already, a photograph was in question.

According to a judicial source, she would have slipped by wanting to take a selfie with her companion.

“On this coastal path, signs and placards indicate and remind pedestrians that it is dangerous to approach the edge of the cliff”, recalls

France 3 Normandy

which wonders about the safety of the site.

Will it be necessary, as on certain portions of the Breton coast, to put fences or iron wires along the sea?

Or outright prohibit access from the top of the cliffs?

The reflection would be in progress.
