“How much money is the EU going to spend for these purposes?

How much has the EU already allocated to Ukraine in recent years?

Is money for the restoration of the country a gift or a loan to Ukraine?”

asked Vandendriesse.

The parliamentarian recalled that the European Union intends to create a solidarity fund to finance the restoration of Ukraine.

It is expected that the funds will be mainly used for the reconstruction of infrastructure and provision of public services in the country.

At the same time, as the MEP stressed, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen that Kyiv would need $5-7 billion a month to pay salaries and cover other expenses.

Earlier, the head of the EC said that since the beginning of the Russian special operation, the European Union has provided Kyiv with €4 billion in humanitarian and direct financial assistance.

Last week it became known about the plans of the European Peace Fund to allocate another €500 million for the purchase of heavy weapons for Ukraine.

The United States also provides active financial support to the Ukrainian authorities.

However, such spending suits not everyone.

On May 12, Senator Rand Paul blocked a vote on the allocation of the next tranche of assistance for almost $40 billion. Later, Congressman Paul Gosar also opposed the financing of Kyiv.
