Katrin Zagrosek will be the new artistic director of the Ruhr Piano Festival on January 1, 2024.

This was announced by his management on Monday.

She succeeds Franz Xaver Ohnesorg, who will then have directed the festival for 28 years.

Ohnesorg informed the foundation and supervisory board of the series of events at an early stage that he did not want to extend his contract, which ran until December 31, 2023, when he was 76 years old.

Zagrosek will be appointed to the board of the Piano Festival Ruhr Foundation and to the management of the Piano Festival Ruhr Sponsoring und Service GmbH as of April 1, 2023.

The graduate art and musicologist was initially a dramaturge at the Theater Freiburg, project manager of the "Hamburger Easter tones", production manager of "Wien Modern" and artistic director of the Niedersächsische Musiktage.

Since 2018 she has managed the business of the International Bach Academy Stuttgart.

This year's Ruhr Piano Festival will take place until July 9th and will bring together 69 pianists at 63 events in 24 locations.
