Once again, the weapons mourn the United States.

For Democratic Congresswoman Katie Porter, who represents Orange County in Washington, "this is shocking and disturbing news, especially less than a day after a mass shooting in Buffalo" which left ten dead.

This time, one person died and four seriously injured in a shooting at a church in California on Sunday, county police said.

An emergency call was received at 1:26 p.m. from the Presbyterian Church of Geneva on Sunday afternoon, according to the police.

"We have arrested a person and recovered a weapon that may be involved" in the crime, the sheriff's department said in a tweet, without specifying at this stage the motivations behind this new shooting.

“No one should have to fear going to their place of worship”

California Governor Gavin Newsom's office said it is working with local officials and monitoring the situation.

“No one should have to fear going to their place of worship.

Our thoughts are with the victims,” his office tweeted.

According to the sheriff's department, the church is located in the town of Laguna Woods, 70 kilometers southwest of Los Angeles.
