The government subsidy, an asset-building program, will also increase from 141,000 won now to 300,000 won in 2023, 400,000 won in 2024, and 550,000 won in 2025.
The Ministry of National Defense is planning to increase the combined salary of sergeants and government subsidies to 2.55 million won by 2025.
This is according to the fact that the Presidential Transition Committee selected a national task on the 3rd and proposed a plan to pay 2 million won per month as a 'Soldier Salary + Asset Formation Program' based on sergeants in 2025.
President Yoon Seok-yeol made a promise of 'a soldier's salary of 2 million won' during his candidacy.
However, due to concerns about side effects such as raising financial resources and reversing salaries with junior executives, the transition committee bypassed the 'payment of large sums by 2025' method, resulting in criticism that they retreated from their promises.
Accordingly, the salary budget for soldiers from 2022 to 2026 is 16.64 trillion won.
This is different from the budget of the existing mid-term defense plan (13,569.4 billion won), which does not reflect the new government's increase plan.
According to the mid-term national defense plan for 2022-2026, the monthly salary of a sergeant is 676,000 won this year, 726,000 won in 2023, 841,000 won in 2024, 963,000 won in 2025, 992,000 won in 2026, etc. It is set.
