Minister of Trade and Industry Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson (S) on industrial investments in the north: "Electricity will suffice"

On Monday, the first conference on investments in northern Sweden was held.

There, the future and challenges with the industrial boom were discussed.

- Electricity will suffice.

I am absolutely sure of that, says Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson (S), who is also hopeful about the staffing.

Here he is supported by the government investigator for Northern Sweden Peter Larsson who followed the development in detail for 2 years.

- What I have seen during this time is that the compass needle is straight north.

The interest is enormous both in Sweden and abroad, says Peter Larsson.

"Sharply expanding training places"

Northvolt now wants to employ about 5,000 people in Skellefteå, in Norrbotten it is about 1,000 jobs at and H2 Green Steel and LKAB.

Then it is a matter of sharply increasing the number of training places in northern Sweden to cope with the competence development, says Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson (S).

Relocation allowance for those who move south to north has also been discussed.

- In addition, we must think in new ways that those who move up here do not only come from Sweden and Europe, they come from all over the world, says Thorwaldsson.
