Yesterday evening, Sunday evening, the Israeli authorities handed Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque and head of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem, a decision banning him from traveling for four months.

Sheikh Sabri's office said - in a written statement to Anadolu Agency - that "Israeli intelligence handed Sheikh Dr. Ikrima Sabri a decision signed by the Israeli Minister of Interior, Ayelet Shaked, banning him from leaving the country for a period of 4 months."

He pointed out that the Israeli minister justified her decision as "a real danger to the security of the state."

Sheikh Sabri said - in a tweet on Twitter - "By God's grace, he has honored us with the blessing of Rabat in Jerusalem, and we will never leave this blessed land, God Almighty."

Sheikh Sabri, 83, added, "This unjust decision will not change my position, will not prevent me, and will not deter me from performing my religious duty towards my people and my nation, and my defense of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. It will continue as long as I live."

In turn, Hamza Quttineh, Sheikh Sabri’s lawyer, said, “The decision to prevent Sheikh Ikrima Sabri from leaving the country comes within a series of arbitrary prosecution measures and restrictions on him, and part of fighting his religious role as a preacher for the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and head of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem, and his social role in the city of Jerusalem and in the world in general. ".

Lawyer Qutina added - in a written statement sent a copy of it to Anadolu Agency - "This arbitrary and unjust decision violates international laws and human rights conventions, and in particular violates the human right to move freely, and is carried out within administrative procedures that do not take into account human rights, his right to defense, nor the simplest standards justice or humanity.”

The Israeli authorities have previously prevented Sheikh Sabri from traveling more than once in the past years, and have also prevented him for months from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
