Europe 1 Studio SEASON 2021 - 2022 12:21 p.m., May 16, 2022

If today, Dostoyevsky, the author of the novel "Crime and Punishment" is seen as the painter of the torments of the soul, he himself considers himself as a writer descended into hell.

In this new episode of the Europe 1 Studio podcast "At the heart of history", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach continues her story of the life of this genius fascinated by misery and human nature.

After escaping death, pursued by the spies of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, Dostoyevsky arrived in Omsk prison on January 23, 1850. During this experience of the penal colony his literary aspirations were reborn: Dostoyevsky wanted to reveal the deep and human character that hides behind the ugliness of the criminals around him.

In this new episode of the Europe 1 Studio podcast "At the heart of History", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach completes the story of the life of Dostoyevsky, a writer who lived through the worst of confinements as an enlightening experience.
