The diplomat recalled that Western restrictions on Russia are not capable of resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

“On the contrary, sanctions will create new complex problems,” Zhao Lijian added.

He also recalled that the Chinese leadership will not disregard the actions of Western states if, under the pretext of non-compliance with sanctions, they begin to infringe on the national interests of China.

As Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said earlier, the G7 countries, urging China not to help Russia in circumventing Western sanctions and not to provide assistance to it, thus continue to directly interfere in the affairs of the PRC.
