• Courts The National Court acquits 'Gaddafi', one of the bloodiest terrorists, with the new Strasbourg doctrine

Joseba Azkarraga,

the coordinator of the platform that calls for the release of ETA prisoners, acknowledges that he maintains a "discreet path" with the Secretary General of Penitentiary Institutions

, Luis Ángel Ortiz.

Azkarraga, former Minister of Justice, did not want to reveal the content of this channel of direct communication with Ortiz that was made public as a result of a Civil Guard report in which Azkarraga acted as an interlocutor with the Ministry of Grande-Marlaska from of communications with

Anton Ruiz

Kubati

and with parliamentarians from EH Bildu.

"As a correveidile, I don't act in any way and anywhere", Azkarraga responded, as

Sortu did

calls for the release of most of the ETA members by applying the 'Atristrain doctrine' to them.

The Civil Guard report that was made public last February placed Joseba Azkarraga as the interlocutor of Marlaska's 'number two'.

Luis Ángel Ortiz and the former Basque councilor maintained a "discreet path" that, as Azkarraga has confirmed, is still open and that took the form of exchanges of messages via mobile applications and at least six face-to-face meetings at the headquarters of the

Ministry of the Interior.

"A discreet relationship has been maintained and is maintained and that is what we are always going to do; I have nothing to hide but I also have nothing to be talking about at this press conference", Azkarraga explained in an appearance before the media .

with

Kubati,

the former terrorist who exercises leadership in the group of ETA members sponsored by Arnaldo Otegi and

Arkaitz Rodríguez.

Azkarraga, furthermore, has denied that he has acted as a "correveidile" -as he has been labeled in another question- between Ortiz and

Kubati

and has also denied that he acted under the orders of the former head of ETA, despite the content of the revealed written messages by the report of the Civil Guard.

"Next Tuesday I have a new meeting with Ángel Luis [Ortiz]. Do you have anything specific that interests you to transfer?" Azkarraga wrote in a chat shared by

Kubati,

ETA lawyers and fellow parliamentarian

Julen Arzuaga,

the person in charge of EH Bildu to control 'in situ' the situation of the prisoners incarcerated in the three Basque prisons and to put pressure on the directors of the centers to achieve individual privileges.

to share a report prepared by Azkarraga after a meeting with Ortiz through the group they shared on social networks.

"In a discreet way, better," answered 'Kubati', a former ETA member implicated in 13 murders and 16 frustrated attacks.

The platform led by Azkarraga has today joined the demand already raised last week by Sortu -the party that controls EH Bildu- for the Justice to release the ETA prisoners imprisoned with the application of the 'Atristrain doctrine'.

Sare's argument replicates that used by Arkaitz Rodríguez when interpreting that both the sentence of

the European Court of Human Rights

on Atristrain and its application by the National Court to Juan Carlos Iglesias Chouzas

Gaddafi

are an open door for the release of most of the 170 ETA members who are approximately serving sentences for serious terrorist attacks.

Azkarraga did not want to reveal the exact number of releases that the lawyers of the ETA prisoners are already preparing and has demanded that both the National High Court and the Supreme Court proceed with the release of the ETA members because "in the majority" of Their arrests were held incommunicado and they were assigned court-appointed lawyers. Sare's spokesman has advanced that the legal instrument that the ETA members are preparing would involve using the appeal for review before the Supreme Court.
