Inflation weighs heavily on the wallets of the French, so much so that some can no longer do their shopping.

The Secours populaire sees the number of people passing through its door increase.

For Agathe and Thomas, it is now the only solution to be able to feed themselves.

Europe 1 met them during a collection.

Faced with inflation and rising food prices, the French are finding solutions.

They do not go to the supermarket to do their shopping, but to the Secours populaire français.

The non-profit association has seen the number of people passing through its doorstep flocking lately.

An increase in the number of beneficiaries who worry them.

That day, the queue lengthens on the sidewalk.

Maryline registers the new beneficiaries.

"The last two months, I have registered 33 families. There is a lady waiting. So, normally, I must have three more registrations today", explains the person in charge of the center.

"Only the Secours Populaire can help me"

Mother, Agathe participates in the collection of the day.

She scans the shelves of preserves: for the very first time, this young mother can no longer make ends meet.

"Anything that is yogurt, we will limit. We take the very first prices in small quantities and we will make one meal out of two. Today, there is only the Secours populaire to help me."

Thomas studies during the week and works on weekends, but that is not enough.

Every week, he comes to pick up his basket.

Because today, with the rise in the price of gasoline in particular, he does not have enough to finish the month.

"The increase in petrol, for example, is no longer possible. I have to fill up every two weeks at 88 euros. It's hot in the loads. I'm very careful about what I buy like products such as meat and fish. I stay on bacon and not on a nice steak."

Every month, Thomas pays 750 euros in charges.
