An 18-year-old Ivorian drowned this Sunday at the end of the day off the central beach of Lacanau in Gironde.
Warned by witnesses at 7:20 p.m. for bathers in difficulty, the rescuers ended up finding the victim around 8:15 p.m. thanks to the Civil Security Dauphin helicopter.
They could only note his death, explains the maritime prefecture of the Atlantic.
The other two young men in difficulty had meanwhile managed to get back to the beach on their own.
Aged in their twenties and also of Ivorian nationality, they were taken care of by the gendarmerie patrol and the firefighters before being evacuated to the hospital in Arès.
They were probably caught in a baïne when the beach had not been supervised since 6:30 p.m.
