After several days of waiting, Elisabeth Borne, former Minister of Labor or even of the Environment, is appointed Prime Minister.

A technocrat profile, which corresponds to the expectations of Emmanuel Macron.

The newcomer to Matignon will soon propose her government, before leading the battle for the legislative elections.

It is a name and a familiar face for the French who have just been appointed to Matignon.

Elisabeth Borne, polytechnician, former director of the RATP and three times minister under Emmanuel Macron, has just been appointed Prime Minister by the latter.

The former Minister of Labor thus becomes the second woman to enter Matignon, nearly 20 years after Edith Cresson.

Expected from the first days after the re-election of Emmanuel Macron, Elisabeth Borne seems to tick all the boxes of the robot portrait sketched by the President of the Republic.

The Head of State then said he was looking for a woman attached to social, environmental and productive issues.

The former Minister of Transport, Ecological Transition and Labor led difficult reforms, in particular those of unemployment insurance and the SNCF.

A loyal and hard-working profile

This profile, clearly more technical than political, will be responsible today for leading the battle for the legislative elections.

Elisabeth Borne will then have to lead her majority.

A challenge for the latter, which still suffers from a lack of notoriety and whose ability to embody the function is not necessarily unanimous.

But like Jean Castex, Emmanuel Macron ensures through the appointment of Elisabeth Borne as Prime Minister, to have a hardworking and loyal profile.

The Head of State thus reserves for himself, once again, the most political role.
