After a stabbing in Frankfurt's Grüneburgpark at a school party, the police are now investigating attempted manslaughter - and are still looking for the perpetrators.

The act of violence occurred around 11 p.m. on Friday evening.

Two eighteen-year-olds who were among the revelers were stabbed, some of them life-threateningly.

The police then cleared the park and cordoned off the green area in the upper section towards the University Campus Westend.

As the police announced on Sunday, there are now initial findings on the course of the crime.

According to this, two groups of young people and adolescents initially clashed verbally.

There was a "pushing around".

After that, the situation calmed down again.

Shortly thereafter, the argument continued abruptly, as a result of which at least one person pulled out a knife and stabbed the two 18-year-old victims.

Emergency surgery after knife wounds

They were seriously injured and later underwent emergency surgery in the hospital.

A large contingent of officers searched the park with flashlights into the night and secured clues.

The park was reopened at 3 a.m.

According to the police spokesman, it is still unclear whether the group of attackers belonged to the environment of the students who were celebrating there.

Some of the young people who had observed the events were initially in shock.

According to the spokesman, numerous witnesses have now come forward and described their observations.

The investigations have now been taken over by the homicide squad, which is automatically turned on in the event of attempted homicide.

So far there is no evidence that a group from the Groß-Gerau area, which committed several robberies and violent crimes in Grüneburgpark last summer, is involved in the most recent attack.

Just a few days ago, the police announced that they wanted to counteract celebrations in parks and public squares with a new concept in order to intervene consistently in the event of criminal offenses.
