Today, Sunday, the US Embassy in Kyiv announced that Ukraine has deployed new American cannons to the front lines of the fighting fronts, while the battles intensified in eastern Ukraine, especially in the Donbass region.

The embassy said that Washington had delivered to Kyiv all but one of the 90 M-777 howitzers that were to be sent.

This type of gun is seen as particularly important given its long range and accuracy, and the US Embassy has re-published a video recording from the Ukrainian Army of soldiers from Kyiv receiving training in the use of these weapons.

In the same regard, the Republican leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, said on Sunday that he expected the Senate to vote on Wednesday on a proposed $40 billion aid to Ukraine.

Russian forces are seeking to take control of the eastern Donbass region and repel a counterattack around the strategic city of Izyum, which is currently under Russian control.

Izyum is located on the Donets River, 120 km from Kharkiv, on the main road to the southeast of the country.

Regarding talks with the Russian side, the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister said that diplomatic talks are still difficult, and she hoped that more sanctions would be imposed on Russia.

In western Ukraine, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maxim Kositsky, said that 4 Russian missiles targeted a military infrastructure facility in the Yavoriv region near the Ukrainian-Polish border, and that the bombing led to the complete destruction of the targeted building.

Kozytsky also confirmed that Ukrainian air defenses had shot down two Russian cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea.

In mid-March, Russian forces targeted the Yavoriv military training base, killing 35 soldiers, including foreign volunteers.

On the other hand, Vladimir Medinsky, aide to the Russian President and head of the negotiating delegation with Ukraine, ruled out the possibility that the future of the fighters of the "Azov" battalion besieged in the Azovstal industrial complex in Mariupol would be included in any political negotiations.

The Staff of the Ukrainian Forces also reported the continuation of air raids and artillery shelling by the Russian forces on the besieged Azovstal Factory.

In turn, the advisor to the Mayor of Mariupol Peter Andriyushenko said that the Russian forces used incendiary and phosphorous bombs in their land, air and sea attack on Azovstal.
