According to TASS, 60.2% of citizens supported the amendments to the law "On transplantation of human organs and donation".

According to the changes, transplantologists will proceed from the fact that they have consent to harvest organs from a deceased person, if during his lifetime he did not express a clear negative attitude towards the procedure.

The reason for the changes in the legislation was the lack of organs for transplantation.

In 2019, Dmitry Morozov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, said that a presumption of consent to posthumous organ donation may appear in Russia.
