The V-leader believes that Sweden is abandoning a long history of freedom of alliance in a forced and hasty way.

- Many people probably feel that they have not been allowed to participate in the debate or have been given pros and cons.

The Social Democrats justify their changed position by saying that a NATO membership is the best for Sweden's security.

When asked if Nooshi Dadgostar does not agree with that analysis, she answers:

- The Swedish people need to be allowed to take a stand on this, they voted mangrantly last time for parties that promised not to lead Sweden into NATO.

"Our girls and boys"

Dadgostar admits that much has changed since the last election, but still says that it is not motivated by security policy to make the decision now, but that one could have waited until this autumn.

- I do not like that we should be divided in Sweden around such an important decision that must be popularly rooted.

It's about our girls and boys going to war.

"Untruths and Misinformation"

Center leader Annie Lööf turns against Dadgostar's description that Swedes may need to go to war.

- NATO is a defense alliance and Article 5 is a defensive clause.

This means that you should stand up and defend when something NATO is attacked, not that you should be sent out to other countries' wars in different parts of the world, says Lööf and continues:

- I think it is important in such sensitive situations not to spread untruths and misinformation.

Dadgostar replies that the image of NATO as a mere defense alliance is not correct.

- NATO has long had a so-called "out of area strategy", ie that it conducts offensive operations when it is claimed that it should protect our security in various ways.

It is clear that one is drawn into this.
