They will go all the way, regardless of national agreements.

PS candidates will stand in the legislative elections in the four constituencies of the Dordogne, facing candidates invested by the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes), three LFIs and one Génération.s.

Former Socialist Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, who left the PS after this agreement sealing the union of the left, participated Friday evening in Périgueux in a public meeting to support these four dissidents, at the invitation of Floran Vadillo, candidate in this constituency.

“We have been wiped off the map” deplores the PS candidate in Périgueux

"We have been wiped off the map" electoral by the agreement of the New popular, ecological and social union (Nupes), with the "unsustainable" program, said Floran Vadillo, 36, who resigned this week from his post of national secretary of the PS.

With Christophe Cathus, Christian Teillac and Martial Peyrouny, invested like him by the PS before the presidential election, he maintains to "send reformist left deputies to the National Assembly".

Floran Vadillo also denounces “the implementation (by LFI) of the disappearance of the PS from its bastions in New Aquitaine and Occitanie”.

In the latter region, Socialist President Carole Delga, a resolute opponent of an agreement which only reserved 6 out of 49 constituencies for the PS, does not spare her support for dissident Socialists, particularly in Hérault.

Anne Hidalgo collected only 2.17% of the votes in this department

The Dordogne, chaired by a socialist for 28 years, has always sent at least two socialist deputies to Paris between 1997 and 2017, where four "Walkers" had been elected.

In 2020, the PS had taken over the town hall of Périgueux, its main city.

But the PS presidential candidate, Anne Hidalgo, collected only 2.17% of the votes in this department which had placed Marine Le Pen in the lead in the 1st round and Jean-Luc Mélenchon in 3rd place (20.3%) with a slightly lower score than nationally.

For the president of the Dordogne, this agreement is a "capitulation"

For the socialist president of the department, Germinal Peiro, who supports the four dissidents, the Nupes agreement "is not a union but a capitulation, a submission, an erasure".

“There is a desire to crush the PS” in Dordogne, he assures AFP.

“We are rebels in submission to the rebels,” he added during the meeting on Friday evening, reports

.

According to him, the leader of LFI Jean-Luc Mélenchon “has integrated the fact that he had no chance of being Prime Minister and he wants to settle the fate of his partners.

If he wanted a majority on the left, he would have taken local roots into account.

He shrunk the left!
