Former Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland proposed to "demilitarize Kaliningrad"

He said this in an interview with DoRzeczy newspaper.

"This region needs to be demilitarized because NATO cannot be sitting on a powder keg," the former military official said.

In his opinion, after the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO, the organization will strengthen its position on the eastern flank, but Kaliningrad prevents the dominance of the military bloc in the region.

Earlier, Polish General Waldemar Skshipchak announced Warsaw's claims to the territory of Kaliningrad.

After that, the Russian ambassador to Poland, Sergei Andreev, noted that "Polish retired generals here are very fond of chatting on various topics and attracting attention to themselves."

In 2019, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, advised Western generals to read “historical books about all the ‘planners’ who made plans for the Russian state,” and “how it ended for the creators of such plans.”
