The Ministry of Unification said it plans to offer a working-level contact with North Korea as soon as possible so that it can be of practical help to North Korea's efforts to contain COVID-19.

Considering the seriousness of the North Korean corona situation, it is the position that it is necessary to respond quickly.

In line with the inauguration of Minister Kwon Young-se, it is predicted that an official proposal will be made to North Korea as early as tomorrow afternoon or early this week at the latest.

As President Yun Seok-yeol basically said that it would go through the channels of the Ministry of Unification, sending a traditional message through the inter-Korean liaison office network is likely.

The traditional text is expected to contain a proposal for working-level contact along with the contents expressing their intention to support quarantine, such as vaccines and medicines.

This would be the first proposal to North Korea through the inter-Korean communication network under the new government.

The U.S. State Department also said that it strongly supports inter-Korean cooperation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

However, it is unclear whether North Korea will accept the proposal from the Ministry of Unification.

This is because, despite the steep spread, General Secretary Kim Jong-un said that the situation is not out of direct control.

[Yang Moo-jin / Vice President of North Korean Graduate University: (To our proposal) I will not give an immediate answer, but I will think about it a lot, and the outcome of the Korea-US summit is expected to be an important criterion as to whether or not to accept it.

] In the midst of this, they sent a message of condemnation to the US and reconfirmed the policy of strengthening the armed forces.

Regarding the G7's condemnation of North Korea's ICBM launch on the 9th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared, "The United States is the one who aggravated the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
