About 880 motorcyclists demonstrated on Saturday against the noise breaks introduced in April on the Großer Feldberg in the Hochtaunus.

That was significantly less than expected by the organizers.

As a result, the event ended faster than expected, as a spokesman for the police station in Usingen told the FAZ on request.

Accordingly, the protest was peaceful.

In addition, the law enforcement officers only counted one violation of the law.

The organizers called "We - For Freedom" had expected up to 3000 motorcyclists.

The participants met in front of the district office in Bad Homburg and, according to the police, drove in a parade via Oberursel and the B456 up to the Feldberg.

There was a rally there.

Several speakers called for the noise breaks decided by local politicians to be dispensed with and spoke out against road closures for motorcycles.

These closures are a traffic attempt.

No machines complained about

As the police spokesman said, the ramps to the B456 for the parade had to be temporarily closed.

There were no complaints from residents or other road users.

Unlike on previous occasions, the officers who accompanied and monitored the parade did not have to take any tuned motorcycles out of circulation.

The only rule violation was a case of driving without a helmet.

The Feldberg is also a popular destination for motorcyclists.

The Hochtaunus district and several local authorities are hoping for more peace and fewer accidents.

From their point of view, not only "pleasure riders" come to the Großer Feldberg, but also motorcyclists with machines that emit too much noise.

Above all, the pulling up of the engines disturbs residents and nature lovers.

In addition, motorcyclists are often involved in accidents.

It is already the second traffic test of this kind after a first one in 2019.
