- I think it is good because it increases the chances of a good grade if you do well in some parts but less well in others, says David Batta who is in year nine.

He is supported by his classmate Florencia Acevedo, who at the same time thinks that it is a bit unfair that future students in high school now do not get the same demands on themselves.

- School has been very tough and I often feel stressed and have to prioritize friends and free time to succeed, she says.

Some are worried about grade inflation

The new provisions for grading will take effect from the first of July 2022.

Åsa Söderström, teacher of Spanish and Swedish at Junedalsskolan in Jönköping, says that some of her colleagues are now worried about grade inflation where everyone sets high grades, but she thinks this is temporary.

- It may be so right in the beginning but then it will be as it is now.

I think the individual student can feel that you get a fairer chance and are judged according to their average level.

Despite some concerns, Florencia Acevedo is positive about the change because as it is now, there is far too much pressure to reach the demands, she says.

How often are you stressed over schoolwork?

- Every day, says Tifa Enthav.
